If you want a cleaner sport. Do something about it. If not, accept it for what it is. Ward has no obligation to do anything other than what's specified in his contract. Rodriguez has every right to threaten to walk away but he didn't. Bradley spoke out and forced the NSAC to use stricter testing at the risk of losing millions. That's what I respect.
Andre Ward:I have a new arsenal. I have a lot of power in both hands!+Drug Testing

Yes, a show to call wards bluff. Edwin is taking the test no matter what, while ward isnt because edwin "suggested it"
Everything will still go on if ward doesnt take the test, it will make no difference at all. This has nothing to do with edwin and everything to do with why Ward wont voluntarily take it. Ward is not being forced to take the test, but he is given the option, yet he chose no, while for 4 years saying testing is good for boxing
heres wards position..........I'm not giving you anything for trolling at a press conference. & in fact i will take the test in my next fight & so on and so fourth. but you (Rodriguez) you don't get nothing from me because you attempted to use immature clown antics at press conference (and didn't say anything at the actual discussions table. not one word) so you get nothing from me. afterwards i will do testing but you (Rodriguez) get nothing from me.Last edited by Godsfly; 10-30-2013, 12:26 PM.Comment

He gave ward the option, take the test to show you're clean or dont. He left it up to ward. But ward is like a little kid "I'm not gonna do it because he wants me to". You're still not getting it, Edwin is not demanding it, and never has. Its a PR stunt because Ward said no, Edwin has nothing to gain from Ward taking the test.
Ward doesnt have to take the tests. But why would anyone refuse to take test that is suggest and paid for and that he has advocated for years? THere is no excuse

Well, perhaps, Rodriguez thought that asking for one million and drug testing would have definitely killed the fight. So, he figured after it was signed he would put him on the spot and see if that would work. I can see that scenario playing out as well. It's all in how you look at it. Now, one thing is for sure...if somehow Ward wins by ko then I will definitely be su****ious because Rodriguez has a solid chin. So, let's see what happens.Comment

Edwin is and is intentions are irrelevant. In fact, Edwin has said it himself that he doesn't give a damn if he takes it so he actually agrees with you to that extent. Might this mean Edwin doesn't care about cleaning up the sport himself as much as he lets on? Maybe. But he's still doing 365/24/7 testing, which is a ton more than anyone in the sport (except Donaire) can say. On the other hand, Ward is just showing he doesn't give a damn at all.
For fuck's sake, Edwin is the one is giving Andre Ward something, not the other way around. In what world do we live in where you have to negotiate to basically be given 20 thousand dollars for something Andre Ward has stated he wanted in the past.
It's like giving you $20k for that brand new car you always supposedly wanted, but refusing it for some crazy reason.
very bad comparison..........something that you always wanted? first of all. ward has taken randomized testing all through out his amatuer career (it's nothing new) it's not about the testing but it's more that edwin rubbed ward the wrong way. ward is all about business & being professional. if you bring up testing outside of the discussion table you're trolling. & ward will not give edwin anything........if edwin really doesn't care about ward testing (as u say) he wouldn't have brought it up at the press conference. and if he was actually serious about it he would have brought it up at the discussion table......a joke.
now if ward doesn't take testing after this fight (like he said he would do) then i agree, the heat should be on. but for this specific situation, it's all a joke.

Positives for taking drug test- $20k drug testing for free
- Do something you always wanted to do
- Prove to the world you're clean
- Avoid public backlash
- Making Rodriguez look like a bitch for calling his bluff (if it was a stunt)
Negatives for taking drug test if clean- ???
Negatives for taking drug test if dirty- Get caught
