And for you to claim that I am prejudiced against russian fighters is really ridiculous and childish my statement was in response to the poster claiming that russians would have come here and been dominant had the iron curtain been torn down and my response was it wouldn't matter if the iron curtain was torn down because skills pay the bills and the fab four were the perfect combination of skill, toughness and determination and would have more than likely beaten any russian fighter they faced and I say that because
1. America has wealth of boxing knowledge that has produced some of the greatest fighters the world has ever seen and are more knowledgeable and advanced in my opinion in terms of developing championship fighters. 2. With exception of the klits what really dominant champs have come out of russia? And I believe success of the klits has more to do with their size and power than anything they are really super heavyweights their height also puts them at an advantage but if you noticed vlad was beaten twice by corey sanders and lamont brewster the russian style of fighting for the most part is a straight ahead come forward style stiff and upright with little or no emphasis on defense and slickness, and that style would have not have worked against such skilled, intelligent, determined and tough fighters like the fab four, maybe against some other american fighters but not against that group, vlad only really begin to change and improve and become this smarter, slicker, more intelligent fighter under the tutelage of the late emanuel steward.
You say there are 30 soviet fighters who are ranked but I'm talking about dominant long reigning champions, and I would dare to reason that much of the success of those soviet fighters is due to the fact that they are under the tutelage many of them of american trainers and in many respects have adopted and are emulating the american style of fighting as opposed to the european style of fighting, provodnikov is another example under the tutelage of freddie roach, this I'm sure can be attributed to much of their success. And gold medals and world titles are different I'm talking world titles you're talking gold medals we are on two different pages.
And golovkin probably looked better against stevens because ouma is actually a better fighter than stevens, stevens has more power and that is it, ouma is better overall and a more experienced fighter who has faced much better competition than stevens I'm sure that's the real reason why golovkin looked better against stevens and not ouma, and not because he golovkin has greatly improved, nothing looked different from my perspective still the same average defense and offense, but I will say he is a decent fighter for his era but he is not the stuff that legends and really great fighters are made of at least not at this point and based on what I'm seeing I doubt he will ever be, but I certainly wish him good luck because he does come across as a really decent guy that is probably one of his most endearing qualities, I'm out.
