cotto doesn't seem like a guy who would easily retract his earlier statements. he already said that gbp has to negotiate with top rank if they want a cotto-canelo fight to happen but looks like schaefer doesn't want to head into that direction.

It seemed to me that Cotto is more at home with TR/HBO than GBP/Showtime as he's been with both. Martinez, otoh, still has contract with HBO. That's why I think Martinez/Cotto will more likely to happen.

Which means Canelo has to look for a non-Cotto/Martinez fight for his next one.

I don't think Canelo should jump straight back into another big fight.

Why not. I think he beats both Cotto and Martinez so im all for it. They can bring in Angulo or Lara too. As long as its top 5 i dont mind

disappointed in the lot of you talking contracts and percentages. leave that to fanboys and promoters.

do you want to see the fights or not? Canelo vs Cotto/Martinez are both good scraps.

If this is more than just talk than I am happy that Canelo is making the right moves. He has all the talent and skill in the world, it's just that the Mayweather fight came too early for him. He has to work on 2 things though, 1, his stamina and 2, his inability to cut the ring against more technical fighters such as Mayweather and Trout.

I don't think Canelo beats Cotto or Martinez at this stage but he should use the next year to fights guys like Lara, Molina and a possible Trout rematch to secure his place at the top of the division. Then a Cotto fight makes sense. Martinez v Canelo should never get made, it would be as much of a mismatch as Martinez v Chavez Jr.

Why is it that Martinez is the overrated one? What has Canelo ever proven? Sergio has been the middleweight champ for the last 4 years and has fought Pavlik, Prime Williams, Chavez Jr., Barker, Macklin, Murray, Dzinziruk, etc. Meanwhile, who has Canelo beat... Trout... Josesito? He also pretty much lost every single round against Mayweather.

I don't see how a 5'7 midget who only fights one minute of every round can possibly go the distance w/Martinez.

Lara would beat Canelo. Target Cotto would be the best option. Cotto is at the end of his career and isn't the same fighter at 154. Canelo would beat Cotto and it's would be great for his career to beat a big name and it also make sense financially.

Canelo might have sold 2.2 with Floyd but he lost and did not look good. Still both guys can get paid good for this fight because it is the most intriguing for any othe matchup
