I love Canelo but lately something is just not right with him. I saw it in the Mayweather fight but i can't put my finger on it. He seems distracted or non focused. One thing i do know is he should spend less time looking at himself in the mirror fixing his hair during training.

Schaefer has been dying to make Cotto/Canelo fight. His mouth waters just thinking about it. Unfortunately, his world came crashing down when Trout beat Cotto. It could have been made had Cotto won.

But it seems like Cotto wants to fight under TR/HBO.

I don't think I'd buy any Canelo headlined PPVs unless they have some seriously stacked undercards. If Cotto and Martinez fought and he fought the winner then that would be one worth getting.

As a Canelo fan I would like him to fight Molina for a belt first.I think Cotto makes more money fighting Canelo than Martinez but Cotto wins no title if he wins. Martinez might make slightly more money fighting Cotto than he would fighting Canelo but both Cotto and Canelo bring in very good money.Win, lose or draw I would like Canelo to fight Molina, Cotto and the Trout-Lara winner next year. That would show how good he is or is not. Angulo would also be a good test fight for him.

I think Canelo will probably have to wait or go to HBO.

Martinez still has two more fights on his HBO contract. so I don't really see that fight happening. Martinez will probably retire once his contract is up. he doesn't want to fight past 40.


the Cotto fight might happen but I think Cotto will fight Martinez 1st. the article says a Canelo fight will be more lucrative but not really.

Martinez vs Cotto won't make as much as Cotto vs Canelo but Cotto will get a much bigger piece of the pie against Martinez.

plus Cotto himself said that Golden Boy would have to work with Top Rank in order to make that happen.


Canelo may want those fights but he won't get them with GBP, well at least not at the moment

I gotta say, I love how the thread title says 'Canelo Gives Marching Orders...' as if it's 'Nelo who orders Schaeffer around.

That's 3 HBO fighters. Cotto's said he staying with Arum (for now), Martinez has said he's 'staying loyal' to HBO (and as pointed out DiBella is unlikely to do business with GBP) and GGG is HBOs MW poster boy (by way of K2).

If 'Nelo wants these 3 fights I'm thinking that it's him he needs to do the marching - away from GBP and to a promotion that can work with HBO.

I'm not saying never, but that's some wishlist, I seriously doubt Canelo gets any of them except possibly Cotto.
