Funny how nobody criticizes Richard Shaeffer for saying he won't meet with Top Rank.
If Arum said this stuff the first 20 comments would be from flowmos saying F Bob Arum.

It doesn't matter if Cotto is not under Top Rank. Schafer did not have to mention Top Rank if Top Rank was a non-essential - unless it was used as an opportunity to take a cheap shot at Arum and add more fuel to the cold war. It was an obvious and deliberate inflammatory comment. DUH.

What would be great is if Cotto agreed and showed up to the Schafer meeting with Arum present and Arum says "Oh, by the way, we just signed Cotto.....care to negotiate?" And then if Schafer could return the favor by showing up with another fighter Arum wants and return the favor. Better yet, if both could go out on a boat together and sink, that would be best. I'd like to see both sides up one on the other to bring both down a notch.

WHO is ignoring that?? I'm not talking about his ability to negotiate without Arum, I don't have a problem with that and nothing I said shows I had a problem with that. Cotto might, or might not have a problem with that. Negotiating without Arum was not my point of contention that you somehow accidentally latched on to. I'm talking purely about his statement intentions. If he thinks he can do business without Arum, then there is no reason to mention Arum and publically jab him and when all he had to do was say "We are meeting with Cotto about potential fights". He didn't do that. He had to add his little message to it. It was not done in a matter-of-fact manner, it had a clear message with political overtones, that is too obvious. Maybe the cold war will end, maybe not but this just adds fuel to the fire as if it needs anymore with cheap petty shots like Schafer pulled.

Cotto knows how to make a fight without Bob, a lot of people seem to have forgotten that.

Nobody needs to do anything besides Cotto and Alvarez/GBP via Cotto and Mayweather/GBP.

Yes folks it's that simple. Cotto will probably once again rake in the highest pay day of his career outside of the Mayweather fight too.

I hope Cotto plays all the promotional companies in order to get the best deal.
