Schaefer is desperate. He has to make Cotto/Canelo ASAP. At least this fight will put money in his pocket as these two will be happy to be guaranteed $5 million each. Not unlike in Mayweather fights. You'd think that Showtime/GBP made truckloads of money in that fight and could now afford to make fights every week. It doesn't seem to be the case. Their upcoming fights are just FNF worthy.

With all due respect WESS that's quite a reach my brother. 1. This has nothing to do with Pacquaio. 2. Why is it that GBP will not negotiate with any promoter? Didn't they try to pull this same shh with Lou Dibella, i'm just saying Arum can't be the problem when every other promoter in the game has been crying foul of Schaeffer and company trying to cut them out of any cross promotional fight. Why hasn't a GBP fighter been put up against Martinez? So again after answering those questions how can you come to the conclusion that Arum is the issue. we've seen tr vs a number of other promoters over the years cannot exactly say that about GBP.

Cotto really plays things intelligently IMO. He knows he is a commodity, but sees the benefit in keeping all his options open. Compare it to Mayweather who spent years burning bridges for no good reason, or Pacquiao who lacks the mental acumen to properly handle his own affairs. Cotto maximizing his earning potential wisely as always.

if cotto wants to fight martinez cool he will get busted up bad and lose 100 percent. martinez is unlike anyone cotto has fought before. after the a$$ whooping he will try to run back and fight canelo for less then what he could've earned now. cotto will be older canelo a lil better, bad business move

If they really want to make Canelo-Cotto, then they need to build the fight up. Canelo needs to fight someone else first because he's coming off a bad loss.
