PPV is not always reserved for stars. A lotta time, a card goes to PPV because the network isn't willing to put up the money that the fighters are asking for. So they give a smaller guarantee and basically make the fighters earn the rest in PPV sales. JMM and Bradley are a prime example. Neither is a big enough draw to be on PPV. But its a fight that Arum wanted and the network liked. But for a fight of that magnitude, they fighters likely were asking for more money than Showtime was willing to guarantee. For Broner-Maidana, anything north of probably 200-250k buys would have been a success. But I'm pretty sure with the beefed up undercard, Showtime likely became willing to shell out a lil more dough. Some of when probably raised AB's guarantee.

The point I was making is Broner thought he was ready for big time PPV numbers and that obviously turned out to be another one of Broner's over-the-top exaggerations. As a PPV, it couldn't hold up...like his future billions wont. Lill Broner needs to fight top guys before he thinks he can get on a PPV card and call it AB View.

You clearly are new to this. Broner-Garcia would be a smashing success if it did half of the 700k you mentioned. Pacquaio-Marquez II only did 400k. And Pac at that point was 3x the draw AB is now.

All you ever talk about is Pacquiao, Pacquiao, Pacquiao ...WTF does Pacquiao have to do with Broner vs Garcia?????? Pacquiao (or Marquez) wasn't that popular in the USA in 2008 until after the De la Hoya fight (Dec 08) that's why it did 400k buys.. People in America KNOW Broner and Garcia and a fight between the 2 would do 700k buys minimum thats the point foo...

Why are people thanking GBP? They wanted to have this on PPV but SHO and the PPV providers said **** no this won't sell **** and will lose us money

They were forced to give this to us for free - not because they wanted to out of the kindness of their hearts

I'm not even thinking about what Broner thinks. I'm looking at it strictly based on experience of seeing fights grow in terms of their drawing power. I attended Broner-Escobedo and the arena was about half empty in AB's hometown. But I also know that I don't have but one person in my inner circle that is a hardcore fight fan. But the majority of my family, friends, and associates have asked me about "who is the kid that acts like and fights like Floyd." My wife owns a barbershop and to a man, every casual fight fan that comes in there knows about Broner, even if they haven't seen him fight.

He has a ways to go before thinking he is some PPV star and that was the core of my original point and statement. They tried to put him at top of a PPV card way too soon. Maybe in 2-3 fights. Maybe now he will learn that he cant just talk his way to that point, he will need more top wins.
