It was just behind the head, albeit he was stooping due to the first (borderline) punch which hurt him. It's a fight though, things happen, it would be wrong to put it on Hirales.
Terribly sad, and a reminder of just how brutal and dangerous the sport is.
Very True, I put no blame on Hirales, it is clear that the punch was not intentional or in malice just the flow of the punches and this is boxing and these things happens.
I watched the full fight last night, and Leal gave a good effort. The ending and that look Leal had was absolutely horrific and I'll never forget it. Rest In Peace. I also wish the best for Raul Hirales and hope he keeps his head up.
It's is sad, but HIs people should retired hm after he lost to Gradovich. After that fight they never did any MRI before fight again. Shame on his handeler
RIP Frankie. That's why us as fans should never question a fighters heart. Nor assume we know how hurt, or when a fighter should keep going or quit. Alvarado could of very well been Frankie as well as numerous of fighters whom step through the ring. All fighters from prospects, journeyman, contenders and the top fighters let us all enjoy the sport of boxing. Whether we prefer slick boxers, brawlers etc... I honestly feel when a fighter loses his life in the ring or suffer the same fate Gerald GMan McCllenan endured should be put into the boxing HOF. That's the least the sport can do. This sport doesn't have all the luxuries other sports have when guys have career ending injuries like football, basketball, baseball etc..
. Once again Respect and condolences to Frankie and his family
WOW holy ****. RIP Leal. Its crazy how some fighters can be in multiple brutal wars and come out just fine but then this guy takes a few rabbit punches to the back of the head and hes dead. I wonder if he had a medical condition before this fight that didnt get noticed and this just made it worse?
This is the dark side of the sport. Tears came to my eyes watching the KO and the way his eyes were out. Sad day for the sport. Condolences to his family and best wishes to Raul Hilares. You can see the guy was really worried and heart broken.
This is a shame. It is fights like this that fans should not criticize fighters like Alvarez, who fight valiantly and then hang it up when they know they have no chance. Too many fans and the idiots at HBO are praising guys like Provodnikov for his style while criticizing and refusing to show guys like Rigondeaux. This incident is precisely why Rigondeaux and pure boxers like him should never change their style to a "fan-friendly style".
