  • Comments Thread For: Guillermo Jones Promises To Punish Lebedev Once Again

As previously reported, the World Boxing Association (WBA) made a decision last week to strip and suspend cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones (39-3-2, 31KOs) for testing positive for a diuretic after his May knockout victory over Denis Lebdev (25-2, 19KOs) in Moscow, Russia.

Jones was first stripped of the title last year and made the "champion in recess." The WBA made Lebedev the full champion and ordered him to face Jones. That fight happened in May and Jones gave Lebedev a beating before finishing the Russian boxer off in the eleventh.

Now the WBA has stripped Jones for a second time and once again made Lebedev the full champion, and once again ordered the two of them to fight each other.

If Lebedev has a competent team to give him a gameplan, he'd possibly knock Jones out to the body.

If it's in Moscow again, Lebedev much more cautious and takes it on the cards

Good. Lebedev is a hair-lipped joker who loves fighting old men.

lebedev is another Russian who was overhyped for beating RRJ & james toney in their 40s...isn't jones 43? isn't I diuretic used to cut weight? i'm not sure but jones didn't look to be in great shape. he was flabby & he laid a beating on lebedev. lebedev lands bombs but his power has to be questioned... it wouldn't surprise me to see that beating again. the WBA has stripped jones twice & both times he won his belt back... I give lebedev a better chance in the rematch but he may be shell shocked or gun shy. let's not forget lebedev got the belt awarded to him by the WBA twice & he never beat the champion... the WBA has become a joke...

Nobody now. He was pretty hyped before Guillermo gave him a beat down.

I thought Roy Jones exposed him to be honest. I know he corked Jones in the final round, but until that point Roy was not just in it but in the penultimate round he had Lebedev hurt. The fact that old man Roy then shut down and stood static and defenseless in the corner did not undo the fact Lebedev had looked pretty bad against one of the most shot fighters in the business.
