Ortiz was doing so well that the announcers started discussing when the fight would end by KO in the 3rd round. Geez.

Press the action against Floyd and it is my belief that you will get either stopped or KO'd. Floyd always says I was looking for the KO but they stop coming. It's clear that This fight would have been stopped. Ortiz's eye had began to rapidly swell and Mayweather was actually throwing combinations this fight.

It's a shame that the fight ended the way it did but I believe the outcome would have been the same.

Floyd had a very easy go of it against Ortiz.

I will not say that this was Floyd's hardest fight at 147, he had a tougher night, for a longer sustained period against both the brilliant Zab Judah and the always pugnacious Hatton, what I will give Ortiz is that in 2 of the 3 and a half rounds that were fought, Ortiz did very well. His switch from body to head was that of a seasoned professional and his ability to cause Mayweather to go into full retreat a joy to watch.

Which makes the headbutts and the ending to the fight all the more bizarre. It's almost as if, after suffering the knock down, Ortiz did not WANT to stand back up, instead of being unable to. A very odd evening for all involved.

This. Ortiz landed a few shots and he was a game opponent (other than the mental breakdown at the end) but when Floyd starts throwing combinations that early in a fight it's not going to last long. I wish it didn't end the way it did.

Ortiz didn't do better than any other WW against Floyd but since the fight ended the way it did people are able to speculate. Hatton definitely did better than Ortiz.
