He's dead wrong. SRL was in some of the most exciting fights. Bhops crafty and slick but he's not exciting at this point in his career. Seriously boxing is dying because safety first is being promoted. Its not just boxing but America were decaying as a civilization.
Bernard Hopkins: Sugar Ray Leonard would be considered boring today

Again, I didn't watch the video; but although Hopkins may have made some good points, there's no way Leonard would be considered boring. I really don't see how that opinion can be backed up.alright, since I see you guys didn't watch the video I'll explain. He was talking about how all out wars with no skill is glorified these days. How fighters, specifically slick black boxers, are called boring. He then talks about how boxing is getting away from the sweet science that it was built on. He calls the names of some fighters that would be considered boring today. and he speaks on how taking those punches affect the fighters outside the ring. It was a great interview.Comment

He would be more likely to be disliked for being over exposed, then he would probably get called over hyped after losing to Duran then called lucky in the rematch, would probably get called out for ducking Pryor by a large group no matter the circumstances, get mad props for the Kalule and Hearns fights which virtually nobody would pick him to win. Then he would get called a bitch over the whole Hagler retirement thing especially how he did it and people would say Hagler would kill him before the fight and that he fought like a bitch afterward.
Which I am pretty sure what happened back then except to a smaller degree because people didn't have as much access to information and group thinking. In short he would be like most popular guys some would love him, some would not be able to stand him and virtually no one would be silent about him.Comment

and he's wrong. because boxing has had all sorts of fighters for a very long time. everyone has their own tastes, none of this is new.alright, since I see you guys didn't watch the video I'll explain. B-Hop has a point, if SRL was fighting under the guidelines of the three idiots Larry, Max & Jim "The HBO Boxing Wrecking Crew" he would be considered boring. Those three fools making it hard to watch boxing without having to hit the mute button and turning on some Jazz. Now if SRL fought on CBS, ABC or NBC things would be different. But not on HBO or SHOWTIME! !!!!!!!!Comment

Yup Hopkins trying to put himself in the same catagory is a joke. Go watch Duran I, Hearns, Benitez with Leonard taking the fight to guys standing in the pocket and throwing brutal combinations to stopping elite boxers. Hopkins, Floyd, Rigo are not the same as Leonard.Comment
