A really tough guy and a pretty good slick boxer with little power. Most had it for Ruslan IIRC but could have gone either way. He did a better job of not getting hurt than Bradley when choosing to exchange, which was often I think

He did all he could. What more can you ask from him? It looked like his corner was contemplating the possibility of stopping it a couple rounds earlier, just be glad Mike is a gladiator. A lesser man would have quit a long time ago.

quitting is such a degrading word in boxing and there was nothing degrading about Alvarado's performance.

The dude took a lot of punishment over ten rounds, was down twice, had his eye completely shut, and didn't know where he was after the tenth. If he lacked heart he could've easily packed it in during the 8th, but instead he kept getting up and took a beating for another two rounds.

I cannot say that his decision to stop fighting showed a lack of heart; he instead showed courage by lasting until he did.

Calling him a quitter not only diminish the effort he was *****g forth but also it would diminish the effort of Provodnikov, because like he said he made him not want to fight any more. Saying he quit in a way implies that he had two viable options but chose the easier one. Alvarado is a tough fighter but Provodnikov's beating gave him one option last night, stay in your corner, or your health and your career will be at grave risk. He made the right decision to stay.
Most def Mike is not a quitter. Well said.

He quit.....I don't see anything wrong with quitting if you've given it your all...I don't get why people get offended when you say someone who clearly quit, quit.

Mike quit, doesn't mean he didn't show a great deal of heart that night.

The ref should have the presence of mind to accept the decision of the corner instead of humiliating Mike into saying "no mas"

That's why its called a corner stoppage, because the corner makes the decision, not the fighter. Dumbass ref.

i guess technically he did quit but atleast is wasnt in the middle of a round like angulo, and he showed alot of heart by even lasting tht long after the first 2 KDs

                      STFU, ****.

Ortiz and Alvarado both quit, and they both gave us a good show, so who the fu.ck cares that they quit. Nothing wrong with quitting if you're done.
