The goal of boxing in the olden days was matches didn't end until a fighter was knocked out and couldn't beat the count or he verbally submitted. There was no POINT fighting, some fighters would go 100 rounds.

I don't get this quitter stuff? Alvarado took a vicious beating and knew he couldn't withstand the power.

I don't think Alvarado or Cotto are quitters they just knew when enough was enough and gave a good account of their warrior spirits.

That is how boxing should be, give your all but know when to stop.

Mike, the right call was made. Just by stepping into the ring you proved that you are a true warrior. Much L&R to you! Rest up and get back into training....you have more fight in you that the fans want to see!

If you stop in the corner, I don't really knock you. You're man finishing out the rd he started, and deciding its best not to go out for another. But if you get up past a standing 8 and say "welp this is enough for me" I can't get down with that

Alvarado fought with great heart. I have much respect for him. You can't question his will. He just knew that he was done. He tried to come back after the 8th, but couldn't do it.

His corner should have stopped the fight last night. It took a great ref to go up to the fighter and ask him if he was ok to fight smh. Rado needed a way out of this fight last night and Tony saved him from more punishment last night. Props to the ref he did a great job last night
