If the fight was in the UK he would have been counted out at 8! I'm glad he let Mike get up. If he stands at 9 and a half it go on. Don't need to be so technical.

Yeah, I don't want the fight to be stopped on a technicality - Mike's intention was obviously to get up late in the count.

However, asking Mike himself to admit he didn't want to fight anymore was slightly off.

Glad he took back the ten count so we didn't have any controversy like Scott vs Chisora. I'm also cool with him wanting to hear it from Mike. I wanted to hear it myself come from him. So he can't say "oh corner stopped it but I wanted to fight still" in an attempt to dodge the quitting backlash.

I have mix feelings about Weeks asking Alvarado if he wanted to stop. It kind of puts the fighter on the spot for something that should be the responsibility of the trainer. There's a stigma behind fighters saying no mas so ideally it should not be up to them to decide when to stop. On the other hand, I think Weeks saw the corner wasn't looking out for the health of the fighter so took the responsibility on his own hands.
