Comments Thread For: Canelo Begins Light Training For Target Return in March

Jose 'Chepo' Reynoso, manager and coach of former junior middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs), said his fighter is already doing some light training for a planned return in the month of March. Canelo last fought on September 14th, where he lost a twelve round majority decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. There are two of the names at the top of Canelo's wish list in 2014 - former three division world champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico and WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez of Argentina.

hmm...now he wants to fight Martinez. I bet Sergio will be thrilled to hear this, but doesn't he have an HBO contract?

I don't think any one will be thrilled to hear about a catch weight .... at this point it's almost 100% chance Martinez goes the Cotto rout.

Oddly enough Cotto and Martinez will probably shut Canelo out. Canelo will face the Ortiz-Molina winner. Simple as taht.

Cotto might ask for a catch-weight too, and I don't think Martinez will resist it.

Canelo beats both Molina and Ortiz. GBP is going about this correctly.
