"Top Rank showed the most interest in me becoming champion again. They are the ones that really want to work with me, move my career slowly, and get me back to being a world champion again.

So that it is like they will protect his azz like they have been doing with many of their fighters.

Juan Diaz is really past the building phase of his career but I guess he is coming back so he needs a bit of building. Come on though it is a promoters job to use a fighter and when they are no longer useful they will dispose of him like yesterday's garbage.

Hope for Juan's sake he can stay useful to them for long enough to make it profitable to him

He was accepted but never went. He's been working with his brother's trucking business since he retired.

Think TR will match him accordingly for the next 3 fights then set him up with Crawford or a Gamboa. What GBP was planning was throwing him right at Figueroa. GBP will protect their young up and comers who are managed by Al, and feed them names who possess no real threat unless they manage to turn back the clock. Diaz at this point realizes all he has is his name, TR just gave him an opportunity to get some winnable fights under his belt then step up with a real challenge.

Smart move, they plan on cashing him out but they are at least taking him to a dinner and movie before they do....

He was given all of these old guys, Julio Diaz, Freitas, Campbell and Marquez and a light punching guy in Paulie Malignaggi. He could have become some one. GBP was trying to make him win big against Marquez. That is a very ungrateful thing to say.

All TR will do is baby him like the "Cry Baby Bull" that he is, only to "feed" him to the top dogs. I say feed in quote because GBP never fed him to any one, or intended for him to lose, he just stepped up and lost, that's all there is to it. He stepped up a little bit against some old dudes and lost. He's blaming his limited skills on GBP. TR could get him a title just like they do with every one else, a paper title against an opponent that has no chance. If that's what he's thinking when he's bigging up TR, then I guess he's perfect for TR.

It's true Diaz, didn't come through while he was given opportunities, but now he would like to make a comeback. Going straight to Figueroa is going to make his comeback tour stop before it really ever started. TR will showcase and pull out smoke and mirrors to show that he is still solid before putting him in with a live dog.

For him it's the best case scenario.. Back with HBO who already have experience with him, and he's most likely to look pretty good for at least a couple fights.
                  Don't blame him one bit

Disappointed he couldn't stay away. I thought it was a great story for this guy to quit boxing and go to law school with his health intact.
But he was already on the decline when he lost to Pauli in the second fight and a few years away will do him no good. Shame as he seems like a good guy.

He was not on the decline man, he looked the same against Paulie as he did against Campbell in 2008.
