I don't give Mayweather the same respect for fighting and beating JMM because he fought Marquez on an uneven playing field and then made it MORE uneven by ignoring their contracted catchweight.

What part of this don't you agree with?
JMM and Floyd was about proving who the best was, if the guy is challenging the guy who they say is best then fighting that guy at less than their best makes it lose meaning. JMM was trying to do some Henry Armstrong stuff and Floyd gave him the opportunity.

Proving who is best is not about an even playing field it is about who is proving who is better.

Floyd had the advantages though, but if they fought at any weight at any time throughout their careers they would have been similar.

I already said you can rate wins however you like I don't really care.

Okay, I can respect that view. It was certainly a fight between two top pound-for-pound fighters (Marquez was at least a top-5 p4p fighter at the time, arguably top 3). There's something to be said about two pound-for-pound fighters going into it.

My opinion is just that the fight was a pretty clear size mismatch from the moment it was signed (let alone when Floyd missed weight), but I do agree with you that the result would likely be the same had they both fought at jr. welterweight or any other weight class.

The first part exactly, plus they are/were two of my favorite fighters and watching two guys you really like going at it is always fun.

The second part is right also because Floyd did have the advantages that you really want to have in a boxing match so that was why I said he essentially did what he was supposed to do. Still doing what you are suppose to do against a class fighter like JMM (or any fighter really) is easier said than done.

You certainly don't have to love that win though or any win for that matter boxing is all about opinions.

Most of the fun of this sport is that everyone has different opinions! Gives us something to talk about.
