Could Martinez become Cotto's signature win?

Hi I'm new to this and was browsing through the forums and wanted to ask a question: if Cotto manages to pull the upset and defeat the lineal 160 champ in Martinez where would he rank among the greatest Puerto Rican fighters of all time?
And would it become his '' signature win ''?

Yes it would be his signature win,,

it would propel him up the charts of all time Puerto ricans,, probably would surpass rosario and camacho maybe,, but he would still be behind tito, benitez, and gomez

To be the lineal MW champ and the first Puerto Rican to win titles in 4 weight classes? Yeah, that would be his signature victory.

Yeah I agree I just wondered what the consensus would be. To be honest though I'd actually view the version of mosley that he beat to be greater than any version of Martinez, but its the size/weight jump that would make it impressive to me. I think mosley despite just having turned 36 was still a very good/great fighter, and he proved that a year or so later against cheaterito.

It would be pretty bad-ass if Cotto beats Sergio. That would definitely be his signature win.

It would be a huge win, slightly better than having Mosley on his resume. He was favored to beat Mosley, but Mosley gave him a much tougher fight than expected, much tougher. He'd be underdog against Martinez, so beating Martinez, especially since he is THE champion at 160, would trump the Mosley win.

But if you ask Cotto at the end of his career, what was his most satisfying win, I predict he'd say Margarito. That would probably forever be his personal signature win, in his own mind and heart, and for his own pride. Martinez would be more of a huge accomplishment for his legacy, and his first ballot ticket to HOF, and most likely would help him crack the top 100 ATG list in some fans eyes.

The wars that Cotto has been in and the punishment he's taken have to be taken into account as well. He is not the same guy that fought Mosley, even though I do agree, Mosley > Martinez on the ATG scale.

To be honest I'd be extremely pleased for Miguel. Although having a nothing less than solid resume there isn't necessarily a win that really stands out for him. I strongly believe he had the makings and make up of a great on the level of a mayweather pacquaio before he got so badly stunted/damaged, so it'd be nice for him to salvage a stand out win before he retires. I equally believe Sergio is just as deserving of the payday

He already had his signature victory with Delvin Rodriguez.
