Is Cotto vs Martinez really a legit fight?

I could've sworn last year Cotto was a shot blown up WW. Now every body is talking like they want this fight to happen. As for myself I wouldn't mind seeing it at 154.

Depends on weight and what Sergio has left. That's the reason I think people would get excited, Sergio may be faded enough for Cotto to win.

        No! Hell no!

Cotto is shot and is just treading on his name now. I like cotto and always have liked him but beating delvin shouldnt get you shot at MW champ especially when everyone says hes small for JMW and has never fought at MW.

Cotto is trying to do something historical and symbolic for his country and Sergio would be an idiot for fighting a killer like GGG coming off back to back knee surgeries, inactivity and broken hands.

So yes its a legit fight and a big event.

I didn't even mention Floyd's name and your already all over him. Besides you've been on this site a week. Know your role.

your right, but things have changed,,, cotto is shop-worn and couldnt handle any fresh world class top level guys anymore like floyd, manny, canelo, trout, but serg looked older than hopkins in his last fight vs murray, now serg will have a year layoff and cotto is looking motivated and young again....

would i rather see serg vs ggg or quillen,, yes

but i dont mind cotto-serg,,,,, both will get big money and should be an entertaining fight,,

To me, yes, it is legit.

Reason, Sergio Martinez has slipped pretty bad.

Also, Cotto's losing performances against Trout and Mayweather>Martinez's winning performances against Murray(Which I thought he lost), almost getting knocked by a limited Chavez, struggling with Macklin.

This isn't even with with the TKO win over the overmatched Rodriguez. I did not take that performance into consideration at all. It meant nothing to me. His losses against Trout and Mayweather showed me more about what he has to offer vs Martinez.

Martinez would have to be shot to bits for Cotto to stand any chance. If Martinez has anything left he knocks Cotto into next week.
