Lomachenko was known to have a style better suited for the pro's regardless, so it wasn't like he was one of those pitty-pat slappers.

You can just watch Audley and Lomachenko/Rigo though man and see the obvious disparity in talent.

Definitely give him a chance to establish his level before calling him an ATG, sure I agree with you...... but with his pedigree, and the natural talent you can see he has and what he did and how he looked (regardless of the nitpicking) in his first fight, a little bit of hype is warranted. BUT the reason he might be getting so much hype, the kind you think is too much is because he's fighting Salido next. Obviously we just have to wait until January to continue this "ATG hype" and see if it's warranted, but one thing is for sure man... IF Lomachenko was to defeat Salido in his second fight, he's off to a HOF and ATG-pace to start his career. And there's absolutely no dis*****g that.

That's where this hype comes from..... The possiblity of him starting his career off with a win against Ramirez and Salido. It's a big IF, but if he managed to do it.... I just don't see how you can say the hype is too much.
It seems we are arguing with the wrong people haha.

This WILL sound strange, but i was more impressed with Verdejo who fought a nobody. And it's not because of styles because i love fast southpaws.

The composure Verdejo showed and the seemless mix of offense and defense was great.

That's who I want to see him fight next.

And I'm willing to put my neck on the line and say I think Verdejo will win.

I understand this was his first fight but if hes talking about fighting for a world title in his next fight then he is a contender and I'll hold him to that standard.

I would love nothing more for Lomanchenko to go on and be the best of all time. I would love to witness that. But stop putting that kind of pressure on a guy with one fight.

You seem to have made up in your head that I'm insulting Lomo or am downplaying him. I'm not i'm just being realistic.
I agree it's a lot of pressure on the kid. But the thing is he wants it. He thinks he's ready now. He wants to start off fighting the best. He doesn't want to be brought up like Canelo. He has the confidence in himself that he's going to do it. He's raising the bar himself. It's a sink or swim situation but he thinks he's got the goods to make history. I guess we just have to let it play out

I wouldn't mind Lomachenko being brought up, not even like a normal fighter, but at a Rigo pace lets say (not quite the pace Loma is currently wanting to go out, but definitely not Canelo/JCC Jr) but he doesn't want that and that's what's leading to this hype. It's different then the Canelo hype that you think is Bull****. Not even close to being the same.

My original point was I don't see how you can do the eye test with Canelo and Rigo and see talent, and not be able to do it with Lomachenko. But lets just see what happens then.

Overly harsh assesment in my opinion. It was his pro debut, sure he has things he can improve, but I was pretty impressed by him. Not many pro's start off their career's in ten rounders against this level of opposition.

Not sure a world title shot in his second fight is a good idea though. I cant see the rush, let the guy have a few fights first to cut his teeth.

Lol come on man. Either way, Lomachenko beat Verdejo in the amateurs (yes, i know doesn't have anything to do with pros) but Verdejo himself said Vasyl was the best fighter he's ever faced. So at the very least, you have to admit the talent is there with Loma. Whether he will be able to deliver on these high expectations remains to be seen but like I said my original point was I just don't see how someone can't see the obvious talent.

Lets wait to see how Salido fight plays out. If Lomachenko wins, i don't wanna hear the word hype anymore

Im sorry if I gave the wrong impression, i think he is supremely talented.

Lets not forget though that even now he is 3/4? years older than Canelo, who started as a pro at 15.

So what more impressive, a win over a good opponent in your debut after 400+ amateur fights and a life time in the sport or fighting a grown man at 15 in your debut?

I'm not some huge Canelo fan by the way but I do appreciate that he basically made up for his lack of amateur background by taking the slow route. Hell I taught Mosley was gonna KO him.

haha not gonna lie I tend to be biased towards Puerto Ricans, which makes no sense because Im Irish

I think its because Tito and Cotto were the fighters that made me fall in love with boxing.

You're right about Canelo's lack of amateur pedigree and age. Good question too.

There is a lot and I mean a lot of hype from Loma, so I can see why some people aren't ready to crown a guy ATG after just one fight. I was just saying if a guy (with no amateur exp) who fights nobody for 35 fights and has one good fight in Trout and because he fought Floyd is deserving of the hype (not dis*****g it), surely a guy with almost 400 amateur fights and a near flawless record fighting someone in his first fight who is light years better then the normal first opponent, deserves a little hype too.

That would be strange if you're talking about his debut, since IIRC he kinda struggled and made his opponent look good. He looked good last time out tho
