Lomachenko looked excellent for his first fight, but the success Ramirez had, in between the moments where Lomachenko put his impressive offense on display, shows Vasyl's underlying weaknesses.

He lacks elite ring generalship, defense, and (the skill that most elite amateurs lack) inside fighting (ask yourself: Why did Rigondeaux get on his bike against Cordoba?). Salido's strengths and style would exploit those weaknesses. Of course, Lomachenko's counter uppercut to the body is already an elite punch and can end a fight (including Salido), but Orlando's toughness and underrated defense can withstand/avoid that.

If Lomachenko is trying to be built into a star, they should just let Salido move to 130 and consider a different opponent while he continues to learn the pro game. If not, Salido will stop Lomachenko.

i frankly dont think this is a fight he can win. if he proves me wrong then thats something special. but if i know anything about boxing, i know hes in for a very rude awakening.

Salido stops him, no doubt in my mind.

          This makes sense.

Or maybe Arum wants a matchup with Zou Shiming eventually.

Who gives a ****, there's **** challengers all the time. For once someone is trying to do something special, and you're crying about it?

Salido is tough, strong and relentless and it's impossible to know what happens once Lomachenko goes past 8 rounds until it happens.

I would still back the guy who has lost 1 fight in 400 amateur contests. He is a prodigious talent.

Call me crazy- And Lomachenko could slow down and not have a real step up til his 10th-20th bout and he would still be a star...... But I think he will beat Salido. Without a doubt. People are going to be very surprised January 25th.

Tough guy, relentless pressure, always comes forward, ready to go 12..... yet I just feel like Lomachenko is something special and he'll school him.

Nobody will be surprised -- Salido will take the necessary dive and Arum will be happy.

Its going to be good. Lomachenko wants this, he asked for it, so he feels he's ready, therefore it's not too fast. I think he can win but we'll see, Orlando Salido is the Glen Johnson of Featherweight.
