Following his fight against the reigning king of the heavyweights Wladimir Klitschko and his first career loss, Alexander Povetkin (now 26-1, 18 KOs) and his promoter Andrey Ryabinskiy staged a small presser at the Moscow Mortgage Center’s (MIC) headquarters on Wednesday. Here are the most interesting excerpts:

Povetkin about Stacey McKinley, “I have worked with Stacey for more than a month. He gave me something. There were interesting moments in the training, new combinations were learned.

"Decent" response from Povetkin. Let's see him fight other top contenders now.

Povetkin has proved to the world that he's a fighter who should be respected, contrary to what many people believed about him before this fight. He's the best heavyweight not named Klitschko.

He's right that all the knockdowns in the seventh were shaky and Pabon ******. The only thing he really proved is he needs the sort of tactic schooling Wlad had under Manny. He didn't have a clue how to combat fouls. He or Haye is probably still next best after the Ks

What a commendable interview. Honest, to the point, and very classy.

Agree with the part in bold, not sure about the last bit. I'd like to see him go ahead and take on the likes of Pulev, Chisora, Fury, Stiverne etc. I'd say Haye but you know he wouldn't fight him.

I would rather see Povetkin vs. Areolla or Adamek or Pulev or Helenius or any other top heavyweights then Povetkin vs. Klitschko II. Looking forwards to the day when Wladimir will retire as a living legend and all these guys will fight each other for all titles ;-)

The way Povvers has conducted himself after the fight, and even during the immediate build-up, have made me respect him big time - not that he needs the respect of people on the Internet, obviously. He did himself proud by coming to fight bravely against Wladimir. Classy fella.

Unless he resumes fighting the likes of Rahman or Boswell, you won't hear me badmouth him again. There's all kinds of good fights for him to get stuck in - Chisora, Boytsov, Pulev, winner of Haye-Fury, Arreola, Stiverne, Abdusalamov, Adamek, Helenius, rematch with Huck, etc.

He frustrated Wlad. Wlad had respect for him, that's why he used his size and weight advantage to bully him. Povetkin gave Wladimir the most difficult fight in recent memory.
