    ** Moorer is underrated.

For one thing, he never fought the best at LH, but his potential at LH was unlimited.

2nd, he skipped the cruisers and went right up to heavy where he made Holy look like a chump. He had only an average career for a heavy champ though. No doubt if he hadn't fallen in love with his power and relied more on boxing and training, he would have done better. In the end, his biggest fight was a loss against Foreman, not the best way to be remembered on his many highlight clips.

I remember when moorer moved up to Heavyweight. The reason he skipped the crusierweight division was two reasons.

      1. He knew the money was better and the big matches would come.

      2. He was killing himself to make 175. I remember Manny Steward commenting one time on air about for one fight Moorer had made the 175 mark but weighed 205lbs during the actual match. i think weight issues were a major concern also and moorer couldn't stay at lightheavy because as he got older 175lbs was near impossible for him to make.

So, yes ideally Moorer might have been a very dominant lightheavy but it couldn't go on for much longer. He out grew the division and was always destined to be a heavyweight!
