    Michael Moorer

People have stopped talking about him..?

Check his career a Light Heavyweight he defended his title 9 times and all 9 by KO/TKO, he was the 3 time heavyweight champion, and when he wanted to retire after beating a decent fighter, he stopped Vassiliy Jirov.

Michael Moorer was a damn good fighter, especially at LHW, and he was more suited for that weight in my opinion. But he did very well at HW, and he showed courage, skill, and toughness.

I think there were things outside the ring that distracted Michael, and I don't think he was focused 100% of the time. Regardless the man had alot of talent and power.

    Great fighter in his day.

Moorer had the potential to become one of the greatest light heavyweights of all time....He could've been up there with Michael Spinks, Archie Moore, and Billy Conn.

Moorer was a great Light Heavyweight, and a successful heavyweight. He was very powerful at LHW, but only average or below at HW. After the one-punch KO loss to Foreman, he was never the same again. He could've been an all-time great at LHW, but still had a very solid career. He was one of my favorite boxers in his day.

He definitely could have stayed at Light Heavy and dominated for a decade but you gotta admire him for going up to Heavyweight and winning the title a couple times. I didn't have him beating Holyfield and he got stopped by Holyfield and Foreman, but that's nothing to be ashamed of. The Tua loss was bad, but the KO win over Jirov seemed to make up for it. Solid career for a very humble champion.

I still think "Roger & Me" is his best work.

Sure Moorer was a dominating Lt. Hvy but those that simply say he should have stayed there dont know Michael to well.

Moorer is and always was lazy and the chances of him making lt. heavy for an extended period of time are/were zero.

You can't accurately evaluate Michael Moorer's career as a heavyweight like you can as a fighter. Look at his credentials. Michael Moorer won all of his light heavyweight bouts by KO, including being the first WBO Light Heavyweight champ. He beat Holyfield to win the title, but then lost it to Foreman in a historical instance that will far overshadow him as a fighter. He regained a portion of the title by beating Axel Schulz, but then struggled mightily with Botha. He received a violent pummeling in the rematch with Holyfield, got ko'ed by Tua and that was pretty much it. His bouts with the bottle contributed to his inconsistencies I believe.
