It's not ignorance its fact. Cruz was nowhere near a title shot before he came out, he's fought once since he did come out and that was against Aalan Martinez who was ranked 92nd in the world before the fight (he's something like 120th now)...
Now he's fighting Siri for a vacant title, do the maths, he's beaten nobody of note.
The two names on his resume are Cornelius Lock and Ponce De Leon, both of whom sparked him within 5 and 3 rounds respectively.. This is nothing more than a Top Rank PR stunt!! Answer me honestly do you think he deserves a shot??Comment

I can go back and show you 100 fighters that got title shots when they shouldn't have. It's not ignorance its fact. I believe this is more a tune up for Salido (or should be) because of the style of Cruz than anything else. Is there a gay aspect to it? I wouldn't rule that out but many champs have taken on out of top 10 contenders before and Cruz is a good fighter.Comment

Homeboy, Salido better watch out. Arum is marketing Lomanchenko on the east coast.I can go back and show you 100 fighters that got title shots when they shouldn't have.

WHich fighter do you think sells more tix and makes for a better crowd in MSG v Lomanchenko- a gay puerto rican or a mexican?
Salido is the better fighter and I will always root for him after the JUanMa beatings, but the writing is on the wall.Comment

Thing is Salido isn't the champ, it's for the vacant title. I know what you mean about guys getting a chance that didn't deserve it. Cruz is one of those, but the fact that he's getting a chance after so recently coming out is what I'm talking about! It's a pure PR stunt on top ranks part.I can go back and show you 100 fighters that got title shots when they shouldn't have.

Don't get me wrong it's good business on their part and I'm trying to disparage Cruz, as I've said it took tremendous courage on his part.
What I'm saying is it's unfair that guys like Salido, are left in the dust and are the b side to this, been if he wins it will be about Cruz! And I mean from actual boxing and sports websites not just the tabloids which you would expect it from!Comment

as long as the attention is on the tile fight itself & not the fact that it's the first openly gay boxer fighting for the title. i'd like to think he earned it but you know there will be a media circus around him...kind of like anna kounikova. never won a major tourney but she packed the stands when she played. there would be more media talking to her about a 1st round loss then there would be talking to the tourney winner. same in car racing with danika Patrick. the winner has no media talking to him but everyone has a camera in danika's face & she didn't finish the race...Thing is Salido isn't the champ, it's for the vacant title.
