Arum and Diaz say that the 'Pretty Boy' was offered in the neighborhood of $7 million to face Margarito. In what could best be described as a 'business move', the same guy who brazenly challenged the bigger Winky Wright decided to bypass Margarito, to collect nearly $4 million to spar with Sharmba Mitchell.

he should have a 3rd match with santos. i hate seeing that TD loss on margarito's record.

but 147 holds nothing more for rito. he should move up to 154, where more challenges await. no guarantees that people will want to fight him...

fighting at ur natural weight means fighting around the weight u walk around at...margarito walks around at about 175!..mayweather walks around at about 150..margarito needs to fight somebody like forest quartey to make a name for himself..but he's probably scared

BTW, Anyone who believes that there was $7 million in a Margarito-Mayweather fight is very, very ******.

Margarito is fighting next week. Is there ANY BUZZ for that fight? One iota?

Where would the money come from to pay a total of $10 mil in purses?? (seven to pbf, 2-3 to Marg). Gatti/PBF was a PPV and they got seven mil TOTAL. And Gatti is a FAAAAAR bigger draw than AM.

Seven mil starts to creep into Oscar money. How can Margarito offer anyone that??

FYI: After the Judah loss, Mayweather asked Margarito to scrap the Gomez fight and take him on April 8th. Arum/Margarito declined and decided to move forward with Gomez. That fight is at the friggin' Aladdin and STILL hasn't sold out.

Antonio Margarito can walk into a room of casual boxing fans and very few people would know who he is. His Q-rating is extremely low. Sad.

I agree with you. You must be real dumb to actually believe that $7 mil offer.

WBO is not a major belt. WBC, WBA & the IBF. I don't see Margarito owning any of these belts.

I think everytime these two will fight, it probably would allways end up premature because of a clash of heads. something about their styles.

                    Margarito should be a middleweight.

WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito put in a hard workout today at the Wildcard Gym in Hollywood, California, for his upcoming February 18 title defense against Manuel "*******" Gomez on Top Rank's big "Real Warriors" pay-per-view card at the Aladdin Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas.

"I must win this fight to get to where I want to go," said Margarito. "I know in my heart that I will win. My personal goal is to stop Gomez by the fifth round."

Promoter Bob Arum, who was also on hand in Los Angeles, compared Margarito to ring legend Marvin Hagler, whom Arum also promoted. "Hagler was in the same situation as Margarito is today," Arum said, adding that Oscar De La Hoya, Floyd Mayweather, Shane Mosley and Fernando Vargas have turned down fights with Margarito.

To get Margarito to the "superfight" level, Top Rank plans to keep Margarito active in bouts against high profile fighters.

Team Margarito will arrive in Las Vegas on Monday. Fight fans will have an opportunity to see the card's featured fighters work out on Tuesday at the Aladdin. WBO jr flyweight champion Brian Viloria works out a noon, WBO minimumweight champion Ivan Calderon works out at 12:30PM, Manuel "*******" Gomez will be in the ring at 1PM and Margarito will take over at 2PM.
