  • Comments Thread For: Arum Breaks Down Miguel Cotto's Future Options

Fresh off of a resounding 3rd round TKO over Delvin Rodriguez this past weekend, Puerto Rican star and former three-division titlist Miguel Cotto’s future looks bright as he enters the final stretch of his illustrious career.

A promotional free agent, Cotto worked with his original promoter Top Rank for the Rodriguez fight after seeing bouts against Floyd Mayweather and Austin Trout in 2012 co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

One of the biggest stars in all of boxing, Cotto has the luxury of picking from the most enticing fights available and he certainly seems to have some serious options floating around.

Cottos career is slowly dwindling.. His best days are really behind him even after this good performance.. With that said he should leave Top Prank and get a Canelo fight before he hangs them up.. Thats a possible 10+ mil or more payday...

You ****** basturd! Canelo is not all that. He was hyped up to be much greater than he is. Cotto takes all comers, and he'd surely *** Dennis the menace up.

Good luck to Miguel, it was good to see him back and hammering in bodyshots with that left hand. Martinez would be a great fight as would Canelo. One things for sure Cottos fights never disappoint!

Cotto didn't duck Canelo, seriously that a load of BS. I could be wrong but did the Cotto vs Canelo fight break down over money?

if you think about it why would Cotto want to be the B side to Canelo and make less money?

Cotto probably went back to Top Rank because they probably had a more lucrative path for him.

Cotto would make more money against Martinez than Canelo simply because Martinez won't be demand as much as Canelo. Cotto gets a bigger piece of the pie.

Cotto vs Martinez if it gets made is clearly the biggest fight next year, without a doubt.

It would be appropriate for Miguel Cotto to face Canelo Alvarez and Sergio Martinez to face Gennady Golovkin. In my opinion Gennady Golovkin has been waiting for his shot at Martinez for quite some time now so it would make sense to unify the titles before anything else and have a real lineal champion at 160, besides a lot of people think and say that Cotto is a small junior middleweight so it doesn't make too much sense for him to go even higher in weight right now to the middleweight division. Canelo vs Cotto makes sense since they are both already in the same division and have styles that would mix well with each other to make a great fight, plus I think a lot of people including Canelo have been wanting this fight for quite some time now too so it makes sense also.
