Comments Thread For: Arum: Lomanchenko could challenge for world title in Jan.

LOS ANGELES -- During Monday's Tim Bradley-Juan Manuel Marquez media brunch, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum informed BoxingScene.com that Terence Crawford will challenge Ricky Burns for the WBO title at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York on Jan. 25.

Arum already has a co-feature in mind for the card.

"We hope to do, depending on how (Vasyl) Lomanchenko does Saturday, we hope to have Lomanchenko fighting for a world title on that card," Arum told BoxingScene.com.

I think because he believes he's that good. Also, his style is very high energy, I don't see him having as much chance for success past his late 20s.

I can see him beating Gradovich but Orlando will be super tough. Its hard going from 5 rounders to fighting a guy like him who comes none stop for 12 rounds

I think you will see Lomachenko vs. Gradovich and Donaire vs. Salido/Cruz

Lomachenko is the best of all the 2012 Olympians by far. But that doesn't mean you have to rush him so quickly. Salido would be too much for him. Gradovich is very beatable though.

I think we're going to the opposite- Lomachenko vs. Salido and Donaire vs. Gradovich

I actually ^^ think Salido would be the easier opponent for Lomachenko also. Salido will be coming forward for 12 rounds but so will Gradovich and he's younger and fresher and he's shown to have ridiculous stamina/conditioning.

No, you are both wrong. Arum isn't rushing him . Lomachenko himself made a statement a few weeks ago and said that he wants to become the World Record Holder for the fewest bouts to attain to a title, because a couple of fighters won their titles in their third fights.. That's what HE is determined to do and I expect that Arum got him to do a little hedging by persuading him that they should wait and see how he does in his first fight. To win that against a good fighter with a good record and 26 pro fights will be a huge achievement by itself.
