He was destroyed by Margarito and Pacquiao. He took punishment in several other fights. He's too small and has no defence. Sergio's sharp punches will slice his face to shreds. Beating Edwin Rodriguez isn't convincing me that Cotto is back.

I respect Cotto for taking tough fights but I will say that this fight has been there for him for years and it is quite convenient that he's only interested now after Sergio lost to Murray

True but I mean those fights are going on almost 5 years ago. Sergios spent more time in the hospital than he has in the gym recently. Cotto is "fresher" of the two but sergios size still might be too much we will see, will be a fun fight.

The only time it would've lined up properly was when Cotto fought Mayorga and Sergio fought Dzinziruk. Other than then, one had a fight an important fight to his career coming (Margarito II, Chavez Jr.). I just think implying that Cotto is only interested now because Sergio looks his age a bit isn't keeping in line with what Cotto does. He fights them when the iron is hot, prime Margarito and prime Pacquiao. He could have found ways around them at the point in time he fought them, but he didn't.

Canelo just got paid so he really needs to fall back and fight who ever regardless of their draw power or fan base. Lara is the guy he should fight next. GGG??? Go for Chavez or Ward.

I am admittedly nitpicking a little. I still think Sergio's performance against Murray helped move this fight along somewhat. Having said that, Martinez is a bigger name now post Chavez Jr so its understandable why Cotto has waited until now.
