  • No way? I'm not really a fan of either, but to me, if Cotto can gain Hatton's respect with his power early, keep Hatton wary from charging in and keep the fight outside, I think Cotto has a good chance of cutting Hatton up forcing a fight stoppage. If Cotto can't do these things, then he will be in trouble. I think the fighters are too evenly matched to say one has no shot vs. the other. I would just like to see this fight happen...

a couple things i need to point out:

      1. boxing is NOT a game. people play football, play baseball, play basketball, NOBODY "plays" boxing.

      2. cotto hasnt had a real opponent yet. corley (feather fisted short comer), torres (dangerous, but unproven and inexperienced), abdullaev (who?), etc. meanwhile, hatton has fought legit contenders and TKOd a modern legend kostya tszyu.

      3. people still argue that the WBO title isnt real (i personally think it is), but nobody can deny that hatton is the unified champion. cotto hasnt had a unified title or a universally recognized title yet.

      4. hatton is two years older and 15 fights ahead of cotto. hatton is obviously the more experienced fighter in this equation.

      5. hatton was never wobbled or in danger like cotto was with corley and torres. hatton obviously has the better chin.

i could go on, but im not in the mood.

in conclusion: hatton has the better "stats" and hatton beats cotto in every way possible.

        • Boxing is a game, just like slap boxing is. If it wasnt, they wouldnt be fighting with gloves on, no way someone takes 122 punches to the head in an hour and doesnt die. Its called prize fighting because their are prizes. Hattons fought no one, and is already thinking about retiring, where Cotto in his fourth year was already being pushed to fight Mayweather. Hattons been knocked down, and cut, even had some bad moments. Just cause you are wobbled doesnt mean you have a bad chin, or will lose a fight. Boxing is about "game" plans. Might make you belive he will, but he can surpise you, never say never, thats why boxers train n grow.

          • Ricky Hatton has been floored before in a match. So to say he hasn't been wobbled before isn't correct. Hatton does have a good chin, but to say he can't be hurt by a flush shot by Cotto, well I think some people have blinders on.

              #1. True dat....

#2. Hatton fought Tszyu, the best available opponent at the time other than Mayweather, Cotto has not fought anyone in the level of Tszyu...but other than Tszyu, Hatton hasn't fought to many good fighters...but he fought Tszyu so he gets the nod...

#3. I do not consider Cotto a champ, because he NEVER beat a REAL champ...In the old days, you had to fight ONE person for a title, not some random guy named Kelson Pinto...and Hatton is the real champion..

#4. True, Hatton has more experience, but I see more talent under Cottos part for the time framing..

#5. Hatton has been dropped, but it didnt hurt him or wobble him or anything.

Cotto is one of my favorite fighters today, and I was going to disagree with everything you said, but I actually read it and agreed with all...

Fighting 10 C fighters is not as fighting 1 A fighter...

              • I agree, the more fights the more experince, thats Cottos problem he is pushed too much, and now he is resorting to letting someone with knockout power knock him around the ring. Thats why Hatton has over 40 fights before fighting a "real" champ, cause he needed the experince, but his last fight was someone Cotto put out when he was a pup.
