Oh, okay.... so Rios, Goyo Vargas, Pep and Cuello were expected to go the distance with the ultra-superior Mayweather.... riiight.

I didn't make the comparison, PBP compared Crawford to the heavy-handed KO artists Sweet Pea and Mayweather.

crawford's a good fighter and he fought a decent fight. Klimov is partly to blame, but he was outmatched and didn't want to get hurt and really he wasn't the one expected to shine by top rank, hbo, and everybody watching. Against that kind of caliber opponent you're supposed to do what Broner did to perez and rees or at least try a little harder. But i say enough top rank, put him in there with beltran and let him shine before hbo changes their mind.
Perez and Rees came to fight. They tried to win. They gave Broner opportunities to capitalize. Klimov did nothing but protect himself and do whatever he could to get to the closing bell -- yet Crawford's the one to blame. Can't believe how the way Klimov fought is okay but Mayweather gets bashed for not standing toe-to-toe and fighting in a phone booth.

Couldn't be more of a reality Saturday night and you're okay with that. Klimov didn't want to engage when Crawford is giving him numerous chances to. 600+ apparently.

Everybody from Sweet Pea, to Floyd down to even Rigo finish these caliber of opponents. These are showcase fights and Crawford failed to show out.
          Exactly my beef

I'm not making an argument for Rigo being bashed by HBO. You compared Crawford to Mayweather, Rigo, and Whitaker.... none of which who are known for being devastating finishers, or even finishers at that.

All of whom I enjoy watching. All I'm saying, is that for you to sit there and criticize Crawford is just going along with the media in bashing him for the showing. If you know boxing, then you should know that Klimov wasn't trying to fight. He wasn't trying to win. He wasn't even trying to throw punches.... but somehow, that's Crawford's fault.

But I do think Crawford could have fought more of the fight the way he did the last minute....he had some nice combinations and look great and should have kicked things into that gear around the 3rd or 4th round. He has the ability but he needs to bring more of it next time or he will lose slots in televised fights and money will go away too. There is a not so fine line between being exciting and leaving yourself open to get hit a lot. Many exciting fighters still maintain solid defense but he didn't raise it up just a bit more when he could have.

Unfortunately, pushed against the ropes by Showtime, HBO has gone populist.

All of a sudden skills aren't worth it for them. Unfortunately, they are looking for Rios-Alvarado type fights. Which is fine occassionaly, but boxing fans enjoy a mix and those kind fights are recipe for short careers.

I really appreciate Rigo skills. Crawford, to be fair, had no fear of the russian's power, unlike Rigo against Donaire; so some of if the talk is warranted.

So, let's get ready for Rios, Alvarado, Ruslan, and Pac basically fighting each other over and over.

                Good one HBO.

Max and Lampley better shut the **** up about boxer's courage and willingness to engage though. Roy Jones should just jab them once. Microphone warriors.

I wouldn't say Rigo was scared of Donaire's power.

When fighting someone like Donaire, who had the size advantage, Rigo knew that one mistake could've been the difference between winning and losing. For example, when the KD happened. Rigo got too relaxed and forgot about protect yourself at all times.

Can say HBO is looking just for brawls but the fans are the ones booing the fights too. Crawford now has been booed a few times. So the fans are not feeling shag they are watching.

Can't blame HBO for wanting to provide what the fans want.

I think the blame falls on the fans the most. They're the ones who pay...
