These guys just don't seem to want to clinch. 12 whole rounds and nothing but punches?? They could get hurt in there! If only a gentlemanly, safety-first European trainer had educated them on the art of holding, they may have taken advantage of the many clinching opportunities offered to them in competition.
What a most savage, carnal, and uncivilized way to conduct yourself in a sport. And these animals call themselves sportsmen? Why would you want to brutalize your opponent in such an undignified manner. They must be taught to clinch or be banned from the sport we love forever!

still, watching that fight and holding my nose, it's plain to see that kessler was inviviting the clinch.

it takes two to clinch. if one guy is struggling to keep and arm free and punching it's very hard to tie him up.

a clinch is a silent agreement by both fighters to "take a three second break."

wladimir took it an extra step on saturday. in addition to clinching, he was literally leaning on povetkin's neck with all of his weight. it was a blatant foul, and the ref should have called him for it early on. after a few rounds the ref is hogtied, as he cannot warn a guy for a tactic he's been using without warning for half of the fight.

pabon won't ref big fights again. klitchko won't fight on hbo for the rest of his career. they will not put up with that crap any longer, especially with a foreign HW.

i suppose you could point to a short stretch here or there and call it "boxing," but for the most part they were looking at each other and posturing.

even klimov's corner told him that he fought like a coward.

Disgraceful from the corner, your corner is meant to get the best out of you, not sure how calling Klimov a coward several times achieved that.

there was all the elements of boxing-

                    ring
                    gloves
                    HBO truck
                    Lampley, roy, Max

I mean maybe this was one of those HBO documentaries that was just so good we thought it was actually WCB.

i thought it was a bad look as well, but he knows the fighter better than we do. klimov wasn't giving himself any chance to win the fight being so passive. saluki's instructions were what he thought the fighter needed to hear to motivate him to action.
