    Povetkin is also to blame

Wlad was shameless. The ref was also awful. But why isn't a typical contender, (screw the alphabet title held) one who was regarded as a threat by some, totally unable to make an adjustment and fight inside when being grabbed. Being grabbed offers an opportunity of sorts does it not? It seems to me that a fighter should have enough skill to at least have some inside fighting ability.

At any rate where is the adjusment from a contender that allows him to hit a man who has two hands grabbing, is coming in to grab, or who is leaning. Povetkin bends from the waist and could not adjust that bad habit enough to take advantage of an opportunity.

If nothing else he shpuld have been able to time Wlad enough to get punches off while being grabbed before the ****ty ref seperated them.

At the very least Povetkin should've gone to the body more.

He is partly to blame. I have no idea what Povetkin was trying to accomplish by lowering his head, rushing in and not throwing any punches.

But Wladimir didn't have to lean on him, he could've just kept uppercutting him or pushed him off. But perhaps Wladimir is falling off a bit and he can't quite do what he wants effectively.

He does exactly what he wants, that jumping on their backs is intentional to tire his opponents. He's a dirty boring bastard.

What I should have said is that he can't punch effectively as he used to.

Hard to push off a guy coming in at waist height, or to uppercut (or hook) without the risk of hitting them on the top or back of the head. I guess Wlad may have been worried 'bout the DQ.

It was ugly as sin, but may have resulted from a deliberate tactic by Sasha as his only means of getting inside. When your Wlads size you can't just keep dancing away from bull rushes without expending too much energy. In fact the energy equation dictates almost every part of your fight plan.

Wlad shoulda been deducted early for pushing Sasha down, but then if a guy comes in at waist height and you've got 4-5" on him, it's always gonna look like you're leaning on him.

Ugly, ugly fight, but Wlad did just what he hadda to win. To be fair on the ref he did his best to keep them apart, but with Sasha fighting as he did it's hard to see waht else Wlad coulda done to minimise risk - which is ultimately his goal.

Ain't gonna pretend I was impressed tho.

Now Drozd - Masternak OTOH - that was a decent fight.

He didn't come in at waist height he was pushed down to waist height, Wlad had no worries about the ref. The same one that let Wlad jump on Mormecks back.
