I had Delvin ahead on the scorecards at the time of that terrible stoppage. He was the ring general in there, using distance masterfully to coax Cotto into winging wild shots.

We didn't learn anything in that fight last night. Cotto looked good but at the same time Rodriguez looked awful. He didn't come to fight and that made Cotto looked spectacular. You put Cotto in with Canelo or Martinez and he gets busted up and lose. He should get a rematch with Trout. That's a fight he could win.

matching Cotto and Martinez would be a cynical ploy to keep one of them relevant as elite fighters -- been done a million times before -- put 2 aging ex-greats who are in decline against each other -- then proclaim the winner as back to his old form and ready for another big $$$$ fight....

I was at this fight in Orlando last night, it was a good time. That was definitely a premature stoppage, at least give Delvin a 10 count. But he was brought in to lose and to build Cotto's confidence after dropping 2 fights recently. Cotto looked good, more aggressive but I can tell you right now, Roach is going to get Cotto KO'ed. While he was do great body work and being offensive, he was too open and a little wild/sloppy. It was not an issue because it was Delvin in there with him. If Cotto comes out against Canelo, Sergio or Floyd again, he will be stopped. Even Floyd may stop him if they fight again and he is that open/wild. Maybe he was just proving a point and wanted to come out and demolish Delvin. That is fine and he did a good job and it was a great atmosphere. But I have said it before, Roach gets his fighters KO'ed with that reckless aggressiveness/offense he teaches. His weakness as a trainer is that doesn't train any defense at all. It's all explosive offense. That is fine and it gets the job done many times but mark my word, it is probably going to get Cotto busted up and stopped when he gets in the ring with the elite at 154.
