What's Sergio's excuse for not fighting Golovkin?

I don't think of Martinez as the true middleweight champion any more. He has avoided the very best middleweights for too long.

Pavlik (Champion), Williams (#1/2), Chavez Jr (#2/3), Macklin (#3), Murray (#7/8), Barker (now an IBF titleholder and #2 contender).
Who has he really avoided? No one knew who GGG was until he fought Proksa (two weeks before the Martinez v. Chavez fight). Quillin got an offer from Sergio's team, but GBP turned down the fight and now it's impossible because of the network feud.

He will never fight GGG in my opinion. He will always have some excuse. He seems to want to milk the middleweight title for all it's worth.He calls out 154 pounders like Canelo and Cotto but he does not fight any of the top 5 middleweights.

1. Golovkin (wait for this in 2014)
2. Barker (Martinez KO11)
3. Geale (just lost to Barker)
4. Quillin (Network feud, had his shot GBP turned it down)

He plans to fight in Argentina from now on which gives him a build in edge over the visiting fighter.I wish he would fight guys like GGG or Quillin but I doubt he ever will.In my opinion GGG is by far the best middleweight in the world and he is willing to fight the best middleweights that will sign the contract to fight him. To each his own. I know Martinez is the lineal middleweight champion of the world but to me GGG is the real champion. The main reason GGG has not fought better fighters is that the better fighters don't want to fight him.If he can get them in the ring I believe he will beat all of them.

I think Sergio might fight fight Cotto (TR wants this fight) or Rubio(mandatory), but its too early too early to tell at this point. There aren't many viable names out there for him, I figure he'll fight GGG in the second semester of 2014 (HBO seems to want it) in what might be a PPV by then.

Golovkin had barely done anything when the Murray fight was signed. Murray's draw with Sturm > Golovkin's win over life-and-death-with-Hope-Proksa.

No good middleweight had to wait years for a title shot. I thought Chavez and Pavlik were also poor middleweight champions. Hagler and Hopkins were true middleweight champions who fought the best. Martinez is not going to fight GGG so how is he a good champ? If he does fight GGG in 2014 then he will be acting like a true champion. I am sure he will lose but at least he will go out being a brave champion and not a shot picker.

Why would anyone compare Martinez to Hagler? And Hagler wasn't a good middleweight champion, he was an ATG middleweight champion.

In 1985, 1986, and 1987 Hagler defended his title only once per year and only twice in 1984 and 1982. He never defended his title 4 times in one year, that's baloney.

Hagler also defended his title twice against Fulgencio Obelmejias.

Pavlik and Chavez were two of the best opponents available middleweights fight, Pavlik was the reigning champ and Chavez the #1/2 contender.

Sergio doesn't need an excuse for not fighting Golovkin. He's 40 and probably gonna retire soon anyway after a couple of easy fights.
