Comments Thread For: Cotto Appeal Denied, Still Owes Evangelista $2 Million

Former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (37-4, 30KOs) received some bad news before Saturday's return against Delvin Rodriguez in Orlando, Florida. A court ruling has denied his appeal of an October 2012 decision which orders him to pay $2 million dollars to his uncle and former trainer Evangelista Cotto.

In 2009, Evangelista attacked Miguel during a training dispute. The altercation was violent and Evangelista was later taken to the hospital with injuries. Evangelista, after he was officially fired, filed a lawsuit in Caguas and claimed that he was owed money from Miguel's fights.

It did say that Evangelista attacked him. What's he supposed to do?

Still, always respected Cotto in and out of the ring. That is pretty bad news to be getting, especially just before your 'comeback' fight.

Damn - he's been in enough wars already, I hope he gets a few more big money fights to cover that. Don't wanna see him leave his life in the ring trying to pay it back with smaller fights.

Looks like Cotto-Canelo next. No way Cotto can come up with that money.
