Comments Thread For: Arum Wants Cotto-Sergio Next, Says Canelo a Free Agent

Bob Arum of Top Rank spoke with BoxingScene’s David Greisman on Oct. 4 in Orlando, the day before the fight between Miguel Cotto and Delvin Rodriguez.

BoxingScene.com: While the fighters always say they’re not looking past their current opponent, what do you want to do with Miguel Cotto should he come out victorious against Delvin Rodriguez?

Arum: “Well, I think the best fight for him would be, if at 154 or something like that, against Sergio Martinez.”

BoxingScene.com: At 154? Or at middleweight? Either? [Click Here To Read More]

LOL. What? I highly doubt Canelo is a free agent. I can't wait to see Schaefer's response.

Expect insults and vague threats to sue like always.

I like cotto but he is only a name now.

          "154 or MW"
          Arum: or catchweight.

Yes. Because you, like every other biased fan out there believes Cotto is wash up and over. The reality is, even thou Cotto is coming into this fight with 2 straight loses, those loses were against P4P king and a tall boxer who had the right game plan against a Cotto who werent on his game.
Dont be fool by the scorecards thou. COtto's fight agaisnt FLoyd was very competitive and close. His fight against, even thou he clearly lose, the fight wasn't as wide as the as the scorecard indicated.
Delvin ROdriguez is a pressure boxer who doesn't have power in his hands to deal with Cotto's power.

BoxingScene.com: Is Cotto signed with you, or just working with you for this fight?

                Arum: “Well, it’s a combination.”
What a vague response to a simple question. I still think Cotto is signed to Top Rank, but hasn't said it publicly as to not lose his "I'm a free man. I do what I want" image.

I think he's still with GBP, but might try to go independent soon

                    Bad idea.

Cotto-Canelo is the fight to cash Cotto out on, if that can be made.
