but seriously who should he fought for his comeback fight? He's running out of time.

I think we were watching different fights if you gave 8 rounds to Vera. I get that Vera isn't top drawer but Chavez showed some more than decent movement and evasive skills in there. Let's not forget he's coming back after a year out and he clearly didn't take the bout seriously.

And if his name wasn't Chavez fans would see him for what he really is an average lazy a$$ fighter who has beaten no one.
I won't say Jr has beaten no one, he has beaten 2-3 top ten MWs but he obviously hasn't beaten anyone elite.

          Meanwhile, things changed...
Sergio got badly injured and he's old...
Jr. is out of the 160 division and he's generally out of touch with this sport...

I agree. The bad thing is Chavez Jr. doesn't seem to take the sport seriously.

Martin Murray doesn't deserve a rematch either.

Maravilla is probably the fighter and champ I respect most of all in the sport. People mean different things by 'old school' - but for me the term describes Maravilla to a T. Worked and battled his way to the top, took the hardest fights and always showed class outside the ring too (various charity work especially with underprivileged kids and Anti-bullying campaigns).

His time seems to be coming to an end, sadly, but I'm hoping for him to go out on shield with a lineal title fight vs Golovkin in 2014.

As for Jr, the damn fool has no respect for the sport or the other fighters in it. I look forward to him taking a brutal beating (perhaps off the afore mentioned ggg) before retiring in shame.

I put the blame on the medical team which "assisted" Martinez after the Chavez Jr. fight...

Rematch is pointless, Martinez is a middleweight titlist, unless he wants to rise to light heavyweight Chavez can't fight him.
