Comments Thread For: Photos: Scott Quigg, Yoandris Salinas Face To Face

Cuba's Yoandris Salinas is ready for the big stage on Saturday night and says he will not be intimidated by the capacity crowd at the O2 Arena in London, England - when he faces popular fighter Scott Quigg for the vacant super bantamweight championship of the World Boxing Association (WBA). Salinas (20-0-1, 13 KOs) vs. Quigg (26-0-1, 19 KOs) will feature a battle of unbeatens. Quigg is seen as a rising star, but he never faced anyone like Salinas - a veteran of more than 300 amateur fights, with a 301-16 record, including four Gold Gloves in Cuba, a bronze medal at the Pan American Games and gold medal at the World Cup.

This is Yoandris's time to shine. He's got a major opportunity here. Better make the most of it.

          Interesting.

Not paid much attention to this fight and was under the impression this Salinas was just a bum to give Quigg a free belt.

Going to do some research on this guy.

Salinas is a joy too watch. He holds two wins over Zou Schming and fought Gamboa & Rigondeaux in the AMs.
He was a top amateur. He is a decent fighter and IMO he will beat the questionable chinned Quigg.

He has 350 fights under his belt, hes seen a dozen Scott Quiggs.

I got Quigg on points, just put a bet down for it as well.

Watched Quigg for a few years now, and he has some very good boxing skills.

Plus it is an Eddie Hearn card, he ain't going to lose on pts

Quiggs certainly grown as a fighter though I feel hes chinny & this fight has come to soon. Salinas has too much experience and I feel his record doesn't quite indicate the power he has. Hes not a massive puncher but hes definitely got good power & is very precise. I really can't ignore Quigg being decked twice very heavily against very light hitting opposition.

I'd be lying if I said I couldn't see something controversial happening though.

Gotta go with the underdog & probably a stoppage.

I don't really know much about Salinas, but the Cubans are making waves at the moment and with a stellar amateur career behind him, i think Quigg could be in for a tough time.

Would hate for it to finish contraversial, and hopefully the better man on the night wins. The Burns/Beltran result left a sour taste in my mouth so hopefully Hearns plays it safe this time around.

Side note, my brother said he can't be that much of a threat because he isn't even ranked as the best in his country at the weight. I just said Rigo, and he was like 'oh...shit'.
