Comments Thread For: Brandon Rios on Sparring For Pacquiao, Answering Critics

The training camp of Brandon Rios is nearing full swing down in Oxnard, Calif., as the former lightweight titlist continues to push his body to the limit on a daily basis ahead of his Nov. 23 date with Manny Pacquiao.

On Wednesday afternoon, Rios (31-1-1, 23 KO’s) could be found sparring a total of ten rounds with prospects Karim “KC” Martinez and Rashad Hughes inside of his trainer Robert Garcia’s personal gym.

The action was brisk and physical, as Rios continues honing his skills ahead of what many consider to be an uphill battle against one of this generation’s finest pugilists.

I wouldn't call him a defensive fighter but he does have better defense inside than he gets credit for.

He catches a lot of punches and does box well inside. Of course he still isn't scared to get hit and sometimes gets hit so he can connect himself.

Dont care how strong your chin is, fight like your chin is made of glass and protect your damned head. Anyone hear this kid speak? He's 27 and sounds a hot mess already. Listen folks, this kid got tagged a hell of a lot by John Murray..ya'll ask who is that..my point exactly. It's not just having a chin, it's just sheer impact of being tagged all through training camp, then going in the ring and being tagged with well over 150 punches to the face by someone with power...hell he might as well earn his living ****ing his head against a concrete wall might have a less harmful long term effect than boxing.

Rios is a good fighter, but his statement just sealed the deal and now I'm definitely taking action on this fight. I'm taking PAC -450.

Bam bam just stated, "I've never been used to sparring a lefty."
And now you're supposed to beat a prolific offensive machine gun south paw.

Rios is a Gatti style warrior and will be picked apart with his come straight forward offense.

Rios is not Margarito! He might be coming off a loss, but Margarito was coming off a KO by Shane Mosely, and was never the same (maybe his gloves weren't the same again either). I think the pressure is on Pacquiao. He needs the win (and an impressive one) to maintain PPV status.
