People keep saying this nonesense, and it's about the most asinine logic I've ever heard. It must take a lot of hate to have it make sense. So I guess Matthysse didn't "KNOW" he was gonna beat Garcia, huh? Canelo didn't "KNOW" he could beat Floyd? A fighter doesn't "KNOW" anything until they get into the ring with the other fighter. They can "believe", but just because you do, doesn't make it a fact. You can study all the tape you want & know a fighters weakneses in and out, but if you can't capitalize in the ring when it matters, without getting yourself KO'd, it don't mean D*CK!

And if that is your logic, then why didn't Pac fight Mosley after Margarito?
Why fight Cotto at 145 instead of 147?
Why did he refuse to fight Cotto at 154?
Why didn't he fight Margarito when it was first talked about instead of years later?
Why not give in on the weight w/Morales for fights 2 & 3 when he knew he was having trouble making weight, rather than adding a weight penalty?
Why not fight Sergio @ 150 when they said they would? Why back out?
Why not fight Marques at 140 a weight that would've been comfortable for both to make?

ESPN's most recent poll had floyd ranked as the 5th greatest fighter ever, so its clear that among casual fans the perception is not there.

There are a handful of boxing "writers" who will solely blame floyd primarily because he is changing the paradigm. Boxers are now taking more control of their careers. The most profitable boxers will be able to generate money without titles or promoters. So of course there is some backlash.

It all comes down to the credibility of the writer and who is paying him. You and others concsistently denigrate BenThompson based on his affiliation with fighthype. ROnnie N. gets little respect because of his affiliation with Manny. Thomas Hauser, Dougie Fsicher, Steve Kim,and the rest of the scoop mailinowski level guys will be treated the same way.

There will be credible criticisms of floyd from writers without affiliation to TR or a negative history with floyd. SO long as those writers remain objective, their valid criticisms will hold.

Otherwise, years from now, you, hugh grant, cgarcia, joeman, junior gong, makavelli, kuyukut, hectari and the rest of the manny fan fringe and anti floyd brigade will still be here trying to erase the fact that manny refused to fight floyd over a very simple test.

Thasts the same thing many of us have said for years about Manny's FOTD award.

At the end of the day if the people vote beiber the best all you can do is agree or disagree.

the usual suspects-who all claimed floyd wouldn't fight Canelo-have come out with the usual articles/blog posts/threads in response to the success of the promotion and all the positive press floyd has been getting because of his performance.

The espn poll, while flawed, clearly shows those articles/blogs/threads have not been successful at changing the opinions of casual fans. The positive press shows they haven't changed the opinions of us diehards either.

Mine own personal experience, I try to get people involved in boxing, tell them about fights going on get some interest going.

But the line I keep getting back is that in boxing the best don't fight the best, them referring the the Mayweather vs Pacquiao non fight, saying it not that in the UFC or whatever they watch.
