Comments Thread For: Roach Confident Cotto Would Beat Martinez, Canelo

One of Miguel Cotto’s goals is to face Floyd Mayweather once again, according to his new trainer Freddie Roach. This was revealed by Roach during a recent public workout in Florida. On Saturday in Orlando, Cotto (37-4, 30KOs) will face Delvin Rodriguez. Beyond Rodriguez, Roach would like to see Cotto enter a big fight - against Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez or WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez. And Roach says Cotto would easily beat either of them.

Roach was complaining about Ariza trying to play trainer, well Roach should quit trying to play promoter.

Cotto ain't doing $hiat. Any threat at JMW and its a wrap. Put him in the with Lara if he's so sure.

I don't think Cotto beats either, honestly. I want him to move back down to 147

Roach, your predictions were working when Pacquiao was fighting guys he was supposed to beat (including a dehydrated Cotto) Just keep your mouth shut and don't make predictions. Would love to see those fight though.

Roach is right. Martinez is overrated...Cotto takes him to school

Cotto is a Money fighter. He is going for the most lucrative fights out there.
A win Saturday put him back in the mix. A win over Canelo or Martinez would land Cotto a rematch with Mayweather. Cotto vs Mayweather 2 will sell well.

Let see how well he does before we start talking about future fights. Delvin is no slouch he can box and has decent power. I think Cotto beats Canelo. He has the better jab and the experience. Canelo lost every round in the Mayweather fight. Miguel Cotto gave Mayweather his toughest fight to date.

Cotto vs Martinez should be at 154. If Sergio Martinez wants the fight and wants to get PPV he is going to have to come down to 157 and do a catch weight.

Mayweather should do that with Sergio Martinez meet half way. 157

Loses to Trout but Can beat Martinez easily? Canelo sure but not Sergio.
Fill him with confidence so he will take the fight.

Lara vs Cotto is a fight I want at 154
