    Comments Thread For: Roach: Refreshed Miguel Cotto Has "A Good Future"

    Miguel Cotto is 32 and has lost back-to-back fights for the first time in his 12-year pro career.

    His new trainer realizes those realities will put the Puerto Rican star in a situation Saturday night in which he needs to defeat Delvin Rodriguez very impressively.

    “We are in a must-win situation for sure,” Freddie Roach, who’ll work Cotto’s corner for the first time Saturday night in Orlando, Fla., said on a recent conference call. “That’s why we are working so hard and we are working well together. … We are working real hard and we know what the situation is.” [Click Here To Read More]

      That would be a really good fight. I can see Cotto pulling that one off.

        Sergio's combination of quickness and movement would probably be too much for Cotto to handle. The perfect match up for him at middleweight is Peter Quillin.

          Sergio hasn't that looked that great as of late. He has a weak chin and his defense aint exactly good considering he's supposed to be "slick".

            Glad to see people would rather see Cotto face off against Martinez than Canelo! Let Canelo reestablish himself with young fighters his age, generation
            let the grown men fight

              Most definitely. I would rather see Cotto pick up a belt in his 4th division then beat whatever confidence Canelo has left out of him this early.

                Lmao. You want him to face Martinez to lose? He's small for 154 as it is . 160 he be slower and not as strong as you think. Martinez looks pretty natural at 160 and has the pop and speed to just cut up Cottos face until tko. Cotto will lose. Cotto wants to have money in his pocket and have a decent chance at winning it's with Canelo. And hell probably lose that one due to age and the size Canelo possesses. Either way Cottos stuck. Hell cash out with Canelo and call it a day. You don't cash out with Martinez . Hell just lose and he didn't even has to go up there.

                    Martinez looks like a small MW and he himself said he can still make Super WW. He was even willing to go to 150lbs for Floyd/Manny. I think Cotto has a great chance.

                    Miguel is more technically sound then Sergio and has better fundamentals. Sergio hasn't looked great as of late and his chin is questionable. Not to mention his defense isn't even good for a guy who is supposed to be "slick". I got Cotto by decision on this one.
