Had this fight happened in 2008, looking back, I would have to favor Mayweather in a tough fight. Putting myself in the frame of mind of 2008, I think I would see the fight as even because Cotto seemed unstoppable back then.

Prime Cotto worked the body as good as anyone before him and I could see this fight being similar to the Castillo fight. The difference is that Cotto would be much stronger and his punches would make a dent. I could say Mayweather wins it 115-113 or something like that. Whether the judges want to give Cotto the credit for winning 5 rounds would be another story, but that is what could have happened.

Floyd wants no part of a prime Cotto

Cotto wins 2 or 3 rounds at best yet will give the toughest fight to Floyd in their primes???

          Get ****ing real son
5 years earlier Cotto was a whole different fighter, so yes.

EDIT: Before the mathematicians come out, I said 5 years because I think it was agreed upon that OP meant 08, not 06.

Floyd still has his legs, he's lost a bit, but he still has his legs lol. Cotto's fall off has been much worse than Floyd's fall off. If anything, Floyd has gotten better since then. Seems as though he's gotten smarter

May has maintained his performance level, whilst Cotto's has noticeably declined. I'm not so sure he's gotten smarter. I've noticed he's been getting better, even stamina wise since the Cotto fight, which is highly unusual for an aging fighter.

I think Mayweather would always be a clear winner over Cotto at any weight and on any day of their lives. Cotto is a good fighter but Mayweather is a great fighter and I don't think they are in the same class. In their fight Cotto had every advantage. The fight was at Cotto's weight and Cotto is years younger. Cotto had been more active. Cotto fought one of his best fights and Mayweather was off form a bit. Still I did not think the fight was at all close. Cotto had a few good rounds but I had Floyd winning by many points.

The further you go back, the worst Cotto gets beat.

Cotto beats him..... There's a reason Floyd ducked a prime Cotto
