Broner is more like Floyd and Toney than Berto. Berto has zero defense. Too much is made out of Broner/Reese fight. Once they saw a negative in Broners performance or what they perceived as a criticism, Broners critics just rode with it just like they did in the Malignaggi fight.

Berto barely moves his head and uses the shoulder roll. He recently started using the shoulder roll in his last 2 fights and got busted up and KO'd against guys he was supposed to beat. In the clinch, Berto puts both of hands up like that amateur style. Broner still holds his shell defense in the clinch just like James, although not as good as Toney.

I agree his defense is nothing special, but its still better than the majority of boxers today. Believe me, Im rooting for Maidana but I wont deny his skill like a lot of the posters on here.

When Berto was unbeaten, he also was no easier to hit than Broner. But Broner has not faced that level yet so till then, he does not belong in the breath of Floyd or Toney.

Berto didn't have zero defense against the type of fighters Broner was facing till he stepped up and fought better comp. Broner does not belong in the same topic line as Floyd and Toney. Come back in 10 fights and see if he does which I doubt. His style will be more compared to Berto than Floyd or Toney because they did their thing against top opposition. Broner has not done that yet so till then, he is a copy of Berto.

I wasnt comparing him to Floyd/James in terms of what they accomplished or done in the sport. I compared him to James in terms of style and how he looks and moves when you watch the guy. Also when Berto fought Collazo when he was unbeaten he was hit a LOT and arguably lost that fight.

Berto never had good defense in his career while Broner has very good defense, not on the level of a Floyd/James but still good compared to what's out there in todays boxing.
