  • Comments Thread For: Vanes Martirosyan Fires Back at Team Canelo Comments

Undefeated Junior Middleweight Vanes Martirosyan is firing back at Team Canelo after Saul Alvarez’s trainer Eddy Reynoso said they would not be interested in a fight with Martirosyan as he was not a big enough draw.

“I’m not a draw but Matthew Hatton is and so is Ryan Rhodes, Alfonso Gomez and Kermit Cintron? The only reason Canelo doesn’t want to fight me or [Erislandy] Lara is because we both will beat Canelo and the WBC did everything to [keep him] away from me for 2 years. Now they’re saying this. Come on man. If they think they could’ve beat me they would’ve fought me a long time ago” Martirosyan would tell BoxingScene.

Martirosyan has long waited for his opportunity to face Canelo but despite being in a mandatory position with the WBC to fight the red headed champion, Martirosyan never got his shot. [Click Here To Read More]

He shouldn't be mad at Canelo he should be mad at his promoter and Golden Boy for having such a crappy relationship. Also lets be fair he has no place to be criticizing anybody's resume because his resume isn't exactly murders row.

I don't think vanes is that great but he has a point. People saying cAnelo is the next superstar are kidding themselves. There's plenty of people he can lose to

There are several guys at 154 that could very well beat Canelo. That's why I'm not sold on Canelo being the new big superstar the next face of boxing that will clean out the division...etc. Floyd will most likely fight a 147 so the 154 division is pretty much wide open. We don't really know who the best fighter is.

Vanes has a tough fight against Andrade so he needs to focus on him instead right now. Demetrius Andrade has a bright future and I think he beats Vanes.

Vanes is going to lose to Andrade anyway so he shouldn't even worry about Canelo at this point.

Everything Martiroysan said is true. If Alvarez is as big of a draw as his team and his fans think he is after the Mayweather fight, he would be the draw in a Martiroysan fight and should sell out any arena that he appears in. Alvarez team was afraid of losing to Martiroysan and Lara prior to the Mayweather fight and they are still afraid of losing to him.

Alvarez's next fight will be against someone they know he can easily beat -- like Carlos Molina or the slow, plodding, Alfredo Angulo.

I like Vanes and have always thought he and Canelo would give a very crowd pleasing fight. Canelo is no PPV draw himself. Saul is too young to be chasing strictly money fights. If he wants to be recognized as one of the division's best he has to fight the best the division has to offer. Stop with the b.s. excuses.
