Cotto said a few days ago that he will close out his career with toprank, I dont think cotto/canelo will happen

Cotto is working with Top Rank on a fight by fight basis. He doesn't have a long term contract with them.

If Team Alvarez is asking for this it tells me that they are pretty confident. They'd better be careful not to **** up and get lazy.

This would be a big win for Miguel if he could pull it off and though I've been a bit skeptical about his motivation recently, if the Cotto that fought Floyd shows up and Canelo has been less than 100% committed, bad things could happen.

Cotto ain't Floyd. When he sees that his punches are hurting his opponent he becomes downright sadistic. He does have that killer instinct. Think orcas and baby seals and blood in the water...

I see it happening, cotto is a free agent again after oct 5..goldenboy will try to jump on it. Winner will likely get a floyd rematch, due to their fan bases and lack of any other opposition for Floyd. I got Canelo via tko, I feel like he's too strong for Cotto at this stage, will be a great fight while it lasts though.

I think people will pay more for a Cotto rematch, at least he had a plan in the ring with Floyd. Canelo simply doesn't deserve a rematch. Why Cotto and not Lara or Trout 2?

Cotto is on a fight by fight basis. Him saying he will finish out with Top Rank means nothing he said that after he beat Margarito and left to fight Floyd. He would have got the Canelo fight if the Floyd didn't sign. He can make more money losing to Canelo than losing to Sergio unless he feels he has a better chance to beat Sergio. I don't see him besting Canelo at all. One guy just 2.2 mil maybe more the other guy did less than 500k one deal seem obvious.
