Comments Thread For: Arum: Chavez-Vera Weight Limit Not Yet Determined

Any change in the weight limit for this Saturday’s fight between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Bryan Vera has not been decided on just yet, according to promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank.

“We’re going to take a look at what the fighters weigh tomorrow and decide what the weight limit will be on the fight,” Arum said during a Sept. 24 media conference call. “Right now there’s no determination on that.”

The rumblings about this began on Monday after a tweet from David Faitelson of ESPN Deportes, who reported that the weight limit for the bout had been moved up to 173 pounds. [Click Here To Read More]

Looks like they are coming out with a new weight division. It will be called the Chavez Weight Division. It is a very flexible division, created just for the Son of the legend. It has one specific rule. It's called "If your last name is Chavez and you happen to be Julio's Son, come as you like". That is the rule. All others need not apply, they are considered lowly peons ruled by the King.

Ifc, really? Isnt the fight coming up? What if chavez weights 190, is that ok? This is nothing like a catch weight. This is embarrassing, Chavez should atleast fight a bum from the right division (light heavy or cruiser).

Not a big deal. Non-title fights are often contested at varying weights. If you watch enough FNFs, you know this. Either way, Vera has the option to walk if he isn't happy with what's going on. If he chooses to fight on, not a word shoud be uttered.

LOL, Chavez should honestly become a heavyweight. No weight issues up there.

Can you post on a boxing topic without mentioning Floyd?

164, 165, 168, 173 to who knows what the weight will be. Tell me or show me a time when anyone else (Floyd included) did all this ****ery

We're going to take a look at what Julio Cesar Chavez Jr weighs tomorrow and then from there we'll decide what weight the fight will be held at.

                  Gotta love Arum.

As Arum gets older, he turns into a bigger SCUMBAG! Now he claims Chavez Jr's weight for this fight hasn't been determined yet..When it was said that the fight will be at 168lbs, but once there were rumors Chavesito couldn't make the weight, now al of a sudden the weight is on standby.. It will be determined once Chavesito weighs himself & whatever weight he does on the scale, that's the weight the fight will be at..
