  • As big dunn said i have also said before to be number 1 he would have to beat martinez at 160 then Ward 168 i know it aint going to happen but other fighters have to many great names on there resume for floyd just to beat the 147/154 fighters at this time.

    • A lot of talk from floyd fans about martinez now that martinez is starting to look old and vulnerable.

Not much from them about GGG though...

Or is it becuase he just won the JWW lineal title and sergio is still the lineal MW champ.

Why would anyone ask floyd, or any ww to fight the 2nd or 3rd best MW?

          • Floyd probably won't go down as the best ever...rightfully so!!!....but his name definitely will be in the conversation.....he can fight Sergio at the full MW limit as well.....correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe Serg comes in at 165 (give or take a pound) on fight night.....Nelo was about the same weight on fight night so it shouldn't be a problem.....but I would accept a CW....nothing less than 156 though....imo Floyd should go get this fight right now!!!!

pump your brakes on GGG...he just got here and hasnt beaten anyone near elite yet. he will have his time.

a better question to the floyd faithful is why did it take so long to bring up Sergio. This should have happened a year ago.

a year ago he hadn't won the lineal JWW title and he still was thought to have legit challengers near ww.

he fought canelo and won JWW title. WInning the way he did, alot of people, not just floyd fans, are saying Sergio for the MW lineal title brings prestige, legacy, money and challenge.

blah blah blah...the lineal title is just for show. Sergio was top 3 p4p, in great form and the toughest fight for floyd. he still may be all those things but it was all there a year ago as was floyd's earning power/fame

its completely acceptable to have wanted this fight for a year now.

floyd could've fought Sergio a year ago. He went to JMW and fougt Cotto for the JMW title instead. If you are going to fault him for not jumping 2 classes to fight Sergio then so be it.

As for why now, I tried to explain why I thought it made more sense now rather than a year ago. Your response suggests you think its for some other reason. Hopefully, ithe reason will be logical.

a fight at 154 would have been acceptable as would moving up to 160. you make it sound like its unheard of to move up like that for the best fighter. fact is, it most likely would have been a more competitive fight in mid 2012 that it would be in mid 2014
