Khan moving up to 147 might increase his punch resistance

Yall remember Miguel Cotto at 140? He was excessively cutting weight and was getting rocked in nearly every fight. When he moved up in weight over the years he was able to take vicious punches by naturally bigger men.

Khan at lightweight was getting rocked by Journeyman that make Julio Diaz look like GGG. It was known that he was draining himself to make 135 back then. When he moved up to 140 he was able to take Maidanas best shots and Khan has been talking about moving up to 147 since 2011 so i guess it gets more and more difficult for him to make 140.

    Thoughts?

Cotto had a good chin at 140 that didn't get dicey until he outgrew the division. Khan's chin has been below-average his entire career, it's not going to get better now.

His last fight was above 140 and a former lightweight put him down and jellyfied his legs. The chin is pure china and everything above "no Power" hurts Khan.

i'm going to go with the other potentially catastrophic scenario, that at 147, you have bigger men, hence bigger punches and hencing (sp?) a flatter khan.

i wonder if khans back has already taken the shape of the canvas.

from your posts, looks, just as i, that you get full enjoyment out of seeing khan do his thing on the dance floor.

this theory only works if he was draining himself to get to 140 and i saw no signs of him being drain. i honeslty think he could still fight there

Cotto got hurt by Corely and Torres and came back to win both fights.

Khan got KO'd by Garcia at 140, almost got taken out by Maidana, and got dropped by a journeyman in Diaz.

Amir needs to shift that extra half stone onto his pegs. That'll stabilise him. He also needs to work on his balance. Crack those two nuts and simply remember to keep that chin tucked in and he'll come on leaps and bounds.

You don't need the best chin and thunder in your hands to be the best boxer, you need speed, footwork, accuracy and more than anything else, intelligence.

He is a rough diamond, and the years are ticking by too quickly for him to learn what he needs to learn in order to become what he wants to become.

Still interested to see what happens in his career, because love or loath him, he's always in a good 'un.
